In 2000, New York State implemented a revised building code based upon the International Building Code. SJB/Empire’s senior staff was instrumental in assisting the Department of State with the development of a technical bulletin which laid the groundwork for the implementation of this code. This new code, Chapter 17, requires adherence to project-specific inspections and testing programs, including seismic design requirements.
Training and Certifications
SJB/Empire provides fully trained engineers and technicians to ensure your project meets these stringent codes. We provide the resources and certified staff (i.e., ACI, ICC, EIT, NETTCP, P.E.) necessary to carry out the required inspections and tests, and provide proper documentation of the work and a P.E. certification at completion.
Site seismic design information can be gathered through our capability to explore subsurface conditions to depths than of 100 feet. These findings are then evaluated by our professional geotechnical engineers who in turn recommend necessary design parameters.
