Empire Geo-Services, Inc., the engineering subsidiary of SJB has developed a long-standing tradition of providing quality, cost effective, site investigation, geotechnical engineering and environmental services. Over the years, the engineering and construction industry, along with private industry, municipalities, and regulatory agencies have utilized our services for geotechnical and environmental site investigation programs, field and laboratory testing, evaluation of subsurface soil, rock and groundwater conditions, and evaluation, analysis and design of geotechnical and environmental solutions, along with construction/remediation project oversight.
 
Northeast Regional Service

In 2000, Empire Geo Services, Inc. was formed as the New York State Registered Professional Engineering subsidiary of SJB Services, Inc.  Since then, SJB/Empire has grown into one of the largest specialty engineering and support service firms in the Northeast with primary offices located in Albany, Buffalo, Cortland, and Rochester.  Through our strategic network of offices, SJB/Empire delivers geotechnical services anywhere within the Northeast Region in a timely and economical manner.

Obtaining Reliable Data

High quality geotechnical engineering begins with obtaining accurate and reliable data.  Our fleet of 15 drill rigs performs the full range of subsurface exploration, instrumentation and site testing services.  Our experienced team of professional geotechnical engineers, geologists and technicians provide comprehensive site investigation services, resulting in an accurate representation of the soil, bedrock and groundwater conditions beneath a given project. 

Facilities and Equipment

SJB/Empire maintains modern geotechnical laboratory facilities and equipment at all four of our principal office locations. These facilities allow for the comprehensive testing of soil and rock samples.  At each facility, registered professional engineers evaluate the results of field investigations and laboratory testing to provide accurate and cost-effective solutions to our clients’ needs.

Geotechnical laboratory testing services include everything from routine classification and index tests to sophisticated triaxial shear, permeability and consolidation tests.  Our services also include testing concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, asphalt, roofing and aggregates.  Our technicians are certified by ACI, AISC, AWS, ASNT, CCRL, and AMRL, NICET and State Highway Departments.  Laboratory testing is performed using ASTM, AASHTO and other applicable specifications and guidelines.
